Bound for Glory

“Bound for Glory.”  Our new book is for sale on AMAZON now! Our first book “The Journals of the Sailing Vessel Toucan” was published on Amazon in early 2019 and is also available. “Bound for Glory” are the journals we created as we traveled to see our Nation’s best idea, the National Parks. On this quest we didn’t have a single destination, but forty-seven of them.  These are our travels to see all the National Parks in the contiguous United States.  We call this a quest because it took us almost four years in nine separate trips across the country as we traveled over eighty-five thousand miles. There are now sixty-one National Parks in the United States, of which, forty-nine are in the contiguous States. “Bound for Glory” covers the 47 Parks as of March 2017, when we saw our last three.  Since then, Indiana Dunes in Illinois and Gateway Arch in St. Louis have joined the ranks.  Oh well, on the road again.

Great News!  With the publication of our second book you can help preserve our National Parks for future generations.  All proceeds from “Bound for Glory” will be donated to the National Park Foundation.  This is an excellent charity and works in partnership with the National Park Service.  Help us preserve the Parks for everyone.

We never intended to write a book, we never even intended to string these journals together. You might find them a bit disjointed and filled with unrelated family episodes. You may also find them not practically useful as a National Park Guide. There are plenty of great guides out there. There are also beautiful picture books as well.  But nowhere else will you find our story, our quest to see them all. We hope our story in some small way motivates you to see a Park and take your own journey. Make your visit sooner rather than later, near or far, long or short – just go. Our most frequently asked question: what was your favorite National Park? Our answer: The next one.
